Quick note in these current interesting times - I’m a firm believer in a sound mind through a sound body. Strength is important. It might be one of, if not the most important things to stay healthy, long term. Stronger people are harder to kill – their bodies just work better as they get older and have better quality of life. If you have never strength trained – look into it. It will change your life, I promise.

This is a very special episode. It’s actually special for several reasons. First of all, I’m recording this on March 25, 2020 – in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

I hope all of you listeners out there, and your loved ones, are doing well in this crazy time.

Over the past year, I’ve put forth significant effort into research, development, and testing of suppressed small arms. Rather than continue to wait on this announcement, I have made the decision to go forward and not delay improvement to the state of practice any longer than it has already been delayed.

That brings me to the second reason why this episode is so special. Today, I am excited and proud to announce the launch of the Silencer Sound Standard!

I was able to sit down with Mr. Karl Edminster from Energetic Armament and one of his sponsored shooters, 12 year old Raegan Hearn, during the NRAAM convention! We discussed several topics, including the following:

Energetic Armament’s entry into the fields of silencer design, engineering, and manufacturing, technical details of their Vox silencer, material selection and research, material selection within the silencer industry, flow design principles, baffle design, silencer physics, manufacturing nuances, material and heat cycle testing, the silencer industry in 2019, continued innovation, and more.

Raegan discusses her new shooting career and how she was introduced to firearms and shooting sports, as well as silencers. Raegan is a girl scout, competitive shooter, and fisher/hunter.

I was able to sit down with Mr. Jimmy Bell from SilencerCo during the NRAAM convention! We discussed a lot of things, including the following topics:

Jimmy’s personal history, SilencerCo’s early products, how SilencerCo has grown, some of their new products, the summer promo, development of the Switchback, customer service, the silencer industry, hunting and silencers, favorite silencer hosts, and more.

Man, are you folks in for a treat. I was able to sit down with subgun silencer industry legend, Mr. Tom Bowers for over two hours and discuss everything under the sun, including:

Submachineguns, new products, old products, the silencer industry, machine guns, global warming, communism, acoustics, hearing damage, sound testing, competitor products, favorite silencer hosts, and of course, Bitty – the small, light, dry .22 silencer!

This was recorded at the 2019 NRA Annual meetings – the audio quality is much better than the previous two podcasts. We’re doing better! 😊

I was able to sit down with Randy Carothers, the marketing manager of OSS Suppressors. We speak about the OSS suppressor technology, different durability standards, technical and performance-based details about their silencer products, a little bit about their new product (their .22 RAD silencer) and we even get into a little bit of talk about favorite silencer hosts!

I was able to sit down with Chis Graham, one of the co-owners of Yankee Hill Machine (YHM).
